Marist Brothers

The Marist Brothers are brothers consecrated to God, that we follow Jesus like Mary, we live in community and who are dedicated specifically to the education of children and young people, with more care for those most in need.

We are more than 3,500 brothers, scattered in 79 countries on five continents. We share our work directly with over 40,000 lay people and serve over 500,000 children and youth.

San Marcelino Champagnat (1789/1840), French priest, founded the Institute of the Marist Brothers of Education in 1817.

The Marist itinerary comprising the following steps: discerning a vocation, communities applying for entrance into training, living a novitiate time culminating in the profession of vows or commitments, continuing a period of academic training for the tasks they will perform in the future years, beginning directly their dedication to children and youth in the most diverse situations, aware that their service is invaluable.
